Firing Up the Base

The Sun's Earl McRae writes an article sure to fire up the letters to the editor Ban Talk Fightin' Words

And for good measure his subtitle
'Only a sissified world would you ban hockey fights and glorify the NHL's All-star game'

The only way fighting can ever be taken out of hockey is to change the essential nature of the game so that it's not the great game of hockey anymore. No bodychecks, no slamming into the boards, no excessive speeds.

In otherwords, a boring, dreary, sissified waltz such as the all-star game, and what a joke that pathetic spectacle was.

How ridiculous it is when the skills competition is more appealing than the game;

Good for him.

Quote of the Day 68

Mama stops into the convience store for something (I think it was the chocolate milks for a dollar) when BigE moans on entering the store:

"It's not fair. You know if I come here I'm going to want a slushie!"

That store has only one purpose for BigE

The Hockey Rink

Here's a doddle BigE did on the back of a kids menu last week. You can see his attention to specific details. The kids have shields on (hence the cross hatch), the face off circles are there, and those blue bits on the top and bottom are the benches and penalty boxes. He did the complete boards but unfortunately the scanner wasn't wide enough to pick that up.

The Airplane

BigE decided he didn't want to paint his wooden race car kit. Rather he'd make things out of the raw pieces. This is one quick shot I grabed of an airplane. I thought it was pretty good use of all the pieces he had to work with.

6:30 Practice

We had our earliest practice for hockey this morning. The classic 6:30. I went out a good 10 minutes early to let the car warm up to reduce the shock for all of us. BigE rolled out of bed and straight into the snow suit.

We had 7 of 12 kids show up this morning. That was a pretty good turn out. They got to play a 20 minute scrimmage at the end of the practice. Dada was playing goal. My save percentage was about the level of the sens. Although I was trying to let a lot in.

There were a couple of plays where BigE was finally starting to realize that he would have to hussle to pick up the puck. He had a few plays in his end where he dumped the puck out (well 10 feet). But he still plays with one hand on the stick. However that is probably genetic.

Somewhere in Quebec

There is a man named Ian (Yan) that is laughing his ass off!

*I understand almost nobody reading this would know what I'm talking about. But it has to be said.

She looks a little bummed out because she's waiting for Mama to come home

Quote of the Day 67

Mama "Love you, have fun at school."

BigE " I will"

Dada "Who are you going to miss while at school? Mama? Arnie? The TV?"

BigE "Mama!"

Dada "Hmmm" [Looking at Mama]

BigE "And Arnie and the TV"

Woopsie

The laptop is out of commission as it accidentally fell not once but twice to the floor. The first time the damage was superficial. The second time did it in. I'm hoping a quick solder job will restore the power. So we've been offline a little bit more then usual.

Update: Thanks to a little soldering help from a colleague at work the laptop is back and working.
