Quote of the Day 46

BigE "Do you know what I call a cold day?"

Dada "No, What?"

BigE "A bad day!"

Barbers or Doctors

BigE headed over to see his buddy yesterday afternoon. You can check out a few pics at Barbers or Doctors on the WB Family blog

BigE Shows off His Classroom

BigE was very excited to take us into his classroom today on a student lead something or other. I stopped listening after student lead. Student lead? He's four? Well we did have a list of items to make sure we visited all of the key stops on the tour.

Somebody was very shy at first. So we didn't get any of the songs from the Calendar station. No days of the week. There was three more but I forget.

We got to see BigE's latest journal. Surprisingly there were no pictures of trucks. Considering he can sit down and fire off about 20 pictures on trucks in an hour at home. There was a picture showing shoveling with Dada. That shows what this winter has been like.

They had made bunnies with paper plates as the faces and cut plates in half for the ears. The kids then had their picture take and placed on the front for the bunny face. Quite cute. I'll have a picture or scan of that up shortly.

We did some math games with numbers up to 10. We tried to identify a bunch of different numbers.

And finally, Dadda was chosen as star of the day! I think the star of the day gets to bring stuff to the office and who knows what else. If you know and know how to leave a comment let me know. Either way BigE was very excited to put one of the Dadda or Momma names (again that was Dadda he chose) into the special envelope to announce who the star of the day was. Then we printed our names on the big sheet of paper that the star of the day gets.

The New Tanker Truck

BigE sends a big thank you to the Nannies and Poppies for their Easter cards. He took the money that came to buy Play Mobil's Tanker Truck. Apparently this is the toy from the "Toy Store" (i.e. Play Value) that he really wanted.

What's really super is that it is a real water truck! If you look at the picture the black spot on top of the tanker is a plug you can remove to fill it up with water. On there other side pictured there is a tap that comes out from the bottom of the tank. The water is controlled by this little red lever that can be used to turn the water off and on! That is a big hit!

We've already started to use it to water the flowers and vegetable plants that we've started inside for the spring. BigE says that the water makes the soil "unhard".

Arnie's New Toy

Forgot to post his one a while ago. Man did Arnie love that big pink tube.

BigE picked out a toy for Arnie all by himself yesterday. He was determined when they went to the dog food store to get a toy for Arnie. Here is the result: Arnie and his new toy
Arnie spent the rest of the evening playing with it and sitting by the back door trying to get outside with it.

We're soo tired

After going through Everybody is Sick but me I thought we had turned the corner yesterday. After the Easter Egg hunt and turkey dinner with Scott & Auntie Bevie I think BigE has run out of steam.

We barely made it gymnastics today. Now that we are home BigE is just a pool of sobs and tears. Paper falls on the floor. Wahhaaaaa! No apparent reason. Wahhhhaaaaa. Toopy and Binoo show ended. Waahhhhaaaa!

Less then 2 hours to bed time.

Easter Egg Hunt

Here are a few highlights from our easter egg hunt. BigE got a selection of crafts, such as Popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners, plus a few chocolate eggs. Then began the hunt for the eggs the easter bunny hid.

Somebody thought it was very funny to find some eggs in his slippers.

Then I find BigE on the table. He'd found a couple of eggs inside his lincoln log fort. So he climbed up right on the table to grab the eggs.

The Sugar Shack

This weekend we hit Fulton's, a sugar shack, for some spring maple syrup. We showed up for a little breakfast. Good sausages and baked beans. The pancakes are pretty good, and most importantly, well textured to soak up that maple syrup.

There was a kids Easter egg hunt, play structures, sleigh rides and face painting.

BigE had a great time with N and the folks from the WB Family.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to all our family.

The Lincoln Log Fort

In an effort to keep BigE entertained over the last few days, when he wasn't feeling really bad, we had broken out the Lincoln Logs again. Here is a picture of one of our two sets. Somebody was very pleased with our creation.
BigE showing his lincoln log fort

I was distracted checking some work emails when I hear a call "Dada look at this". I look over to see that the horse had managed to get itself on top of the fort.

BigE was hiding thinking that he had delivered the ultimate joke. Fortunately I had the camera still on from the previous picture. So I was able to capture a picture.

My Environmentally Conscious BMW

Toyota Prius proves a gas guzzler in a race with the BMW 520d (Times Online)

The test

We took along a conventionally powered car – a diesel BMW executive saloon – for comparison and drove both cars an identical number of miles (545).

The BMW 520d results:
But you can’t argue with the end result. Approaching Switzerland I felt confident of beating Jason (PB Note that is the Prius driver). The computer was telling me that, for the journey as a whole, I had averaged more than 50mpg. The test had taken us along just over 200 miles of autoroute, about 200 miles of B roads, including winding ascents and descents in Switzerland, and 100 miles of urban driving

Prius results:
For all my defensive driving, slippery bodywork and hybrid technology, my average fuel consumption was 48.1mpg. I’d lost to a Beemer and I was disappointed; I had never driven so slowly or carefully for so long in my life. I’m considering buying a V8 Range Rover and opening my own oil well in protest.

Everybody is Sick but Me

I guess I should be happy that it doesn't include me. But right now there are two tired and whiny folks upstairs in bed. Thankfully the temperatures appear to have broken. We shall see.

BigE was home from school today. (Of course I forgot to let the school know but hey at least Momma doesn't know!)

The Improvised Snow House

What do you do with a pirate ship that capsized in the fall and is now buried in snow? Turn it into a snow house of course.

BigE in his snow covered pirate ship

Of course we were calling the portholes "Gopher holes" (Toopy and Binoo reference). I was surprised he could fit down that tiny hole. I don't think it was 12" in diameter. But he made it.

The Backyard

Now I'm not saying we haven't had a lot of snow lately but I'm starting to lose sight of the dog in the backyard. The 140lb dog in the backyard.

At least I know he can't get out because his constant trolling of the fence line has keep the snow well packed

So BigE Knows about ...

The New Addition. We let him in on the scoop yesterday. Mama and BigE were over at a friends house when she was loaned a lot of recognizable baby stuff. BigE was curious what we were doing with all of that.

Of course now we're into the questions. How did the baby get in there? How does it get out? Why did we get another baby? The most satisfying answer to BigE seemed to be that the baby would get out after going to the hospital and something much like his belly button surgery happening. If it's a C-section then that is a pretty good description. Even if it isn't that's good enough for now.

BigE Cheater Pants

Somebody's favorite new nickname. We're playing a game of Guess Who. Two questions and BigE has my guy nailed. "Do you have chin hair?" and "Do you have black hair?"

BAM I'm DONE! Two questions.

Chin hair knocks down everyone except 5 pictures and only one of those has black hair. Go figure. What happened to "Are you a boy?"

It's no wonder he's called Cheater Pants.

BigE the Self Portraits Set

A few more pictures from BigE's camera. The original set here I have no idea how the heck he managed to do these. I'm not even sure if they were intentional. But here they are:

50 cm of SNOW !$%$@#$

That's really all I have to say about that for the moment. It was even windy so the snow was being blown back into the driveway. Crankies it was so bad it was like living in Newfoundland.

I have some pictures but just didn't feel like reliving the day last night.

Ughh More Snow

Yet more snow coming. The warm temperatures followed by the dumps of snow are why the ice rink is buried. I'm not looking forward to more shoveling. Of course it could be worse. I meet a new neighbour today who recently moved here from Dubai. Wondering where you get one of those snowblowers. I realized it could be worse.

BigE the Photo Collection

Here's a collection of photos I found on BigE's camera. I figured after a couple of months it was time to download the photos and find out what was there.

The Best Puppet Show Ever!

Someone took a break from all of the drawing being done today to put on a puppet show. I was having too much fun so I didn't get any video till the end. But I did catch this nugget of gold. (About 8s)

Swimming is Finished ... For now

BigE finished his last swimming class of the session. He sounds pretty insistent that he doesn't want to do anymore right now. He's come pretty far over the last 8 months. He's still going to do 'C' again. Some of the stuff from 'B' he's seemed to have forgotten. But despite being a difficult level for kids he's pretty much gotten everything.

Of course his kicking for swimming is designed more for splashing then actually moving. That might be an unfortunate side effect of time in the tubby.

So we'll keep him out a while. Do some public swims. Maybe get to the beach. Then we'll start back in the fall.

Stella Awards

A little fun for your daily reading.

StellaAwards.com

The Stella Awards were inspired by Stella Liebeck. In 1992, Stella, then 79, spilled a cup of McDonald's coffee onto her lap, burning herself. A New Mexico jury awarded her $2.9 million in damages, but that's not the whole story. Ever since, the name "Stella Award" has been applied to any wild, outrageous, or ridiculous lawsuits -- including bogus cases!
